So Hi, my name is shilpa. Graphic designer and interviewer of Inspiwire . So welcome to the interview Lakshya. It's a pleasure to have you here. So, to begin with, we would like you to give our audience a little introduction about yourself.
It is a pleasure to be here. So I am Lakshya Jain, high school senior at Alpha international school in Delhi. I am a state level football player, student researcher and a guitar player. I love to research about cancer biology . And I'm also the founder of an international NGO named Ediverse youth foundation.
Great . Okay, before moving on, the more serious question, I'd like to ask a fun trivia about yourself. Just a sort of break the ice. What are the three things that you will use to describe yourself?
Okay, so the three words I would use to describe myself would be first introvert, perfectionist and a good listener.
Okay. You're playing football as well. Right? So what is your favorite football team?
So my favorite football team is FC Barcelona. Mainly because I got introduced to football when I was in play. I think the unique style of playing makes football seem like an easy sport, which it obviously isn't. So yeah, my favorite team is FC Barcelona.
Okay, let's get to the interview. So what are your interest areas? And how did you finally develop your interest in?
Yeah, so as I said, I like biological sciences, mainly biotechnology and biomedical engineering. So I like to research about cancer biology, and I developed interest in it when I attended a workshop a summer school, from University of Queensland, of Australia. So there I was introduced to what I would like to call the real biology. So I had biology in my previous classes. But, you know, the real basics, and the real biology was introduced to me, there only also I love playing football. But my interest in grew when I played it for the first time. So I played it just for fun, because I didn't know how to play. But I somehow managed to score two goals against a very competitive team. I think it is a coincidence. But yeah, that's when the interest of playing football grew in me.
Okay. So you're in high school right now. So what are your plans after you're done with high school?
So as of now, I plan to pursue my undergraduate in biotechnology after my high school. Also, I would like to start an organization or a startup, which aims to provide high schoolers with research opportunities. So there are not a easy way.
Great. So intermittently, you found that, so could you tell us a bit about what this organization is about and what is your agenda behind creating it was?
Yeah. So Ediverse is a NGO, which I started in December 2020, during COVID pandemic, along with one other member. So the main aim of our organization is to provide quality live resources like education, food, clothes shelters, to poor people and animals. We mainly have two projects, the first one being the education for all in which we provide free education and opportunities to poor children across the globe. And the other one is save animals in which we have partnered up with some vets in Hospitals and we try to teach our volunteers the basics of first date and how to, you know, handle an animal during the case of emergency. So we have partnered up with organizations like Leo club jito, tech help for all from four different countries. So the countries are India, Japan, Ghana and Indonesia.
So yeah. That sounds great, amazing. So how do you plan on developing this initiative in future?
So I have Plan on adding a new project and in Ediverse in which we start giving scholarships to extraordinary extra minded children with full scholarships to pursue their higher studies. So as of now, we don't have much donation, but we hope to grow in future and provide them scholarships.
Okay, so beside Ediverse what projects have you worked on?
So I have previously volunteered in a leprosy home. Those who don't know leprosy, it is a disease which is thought to be spread by physical contact, but it doesn't. So yeah, I used to play guitar at the leprosy home and make the people happy and comfortable. Also, I used to sort of intern under a Bird hospital there, I learn the basics of first aid. And I used to treat birds not fully but I used to apply ointments to them.
Okay, So Who was the constant source of support for your during the entire process of developing Ediverse or working on your other projects?
So I come from a business and entrepreneurial background. So my whole family has the startup family business. So yeah, I think that helped. alongside my parents, my school principal, and the seniors from leprosy home, really provided me with immense unconstant support during this whole time, and they still continue to do so. So yeah, I think they are the only person who supported me the most.
Okay, so since you are a high school student and are a successful entrepreneur as well,so how do you balance both?
So honestly, I'm not very active on social media platforms. As I told you, I am an introvert. So I don't like being on social media much. But yeah, it's the time management thing is mainly between my academics and my organization. So it is not always easy. But I have got a great team and a very helpful team who takes up my tasks when I'm busy with my studies or other things.
So before wrapping up the interview, what are some tips that you would like to give someone, who wants to starts an organization like you?
Okay, so firstly, you can't just you know, make an organization, you have to go to go out and talk to people you want to help, because if you are not a part of the community, you can't solve their problem. So I think the first step is to go out and talk and survey as much as possible. And then brainstorm the solution through which you can help. And after it, you could, you know, if there are some existing organizations who are already doing the kind of work that you want to do, you could meet them or contact them and get to know their views about your solutions. Or if you if there is, isn't any organizations, you could just talk to a senior, which you think would help. So yeah, I think these are the skills that will help you.
That's Great , thank you for taking out your time and joining us, it was amazing.
Thank you, Bye .
