Hi. How are you?
I'm doing good. How are you?
I'm good.
Okay, so welcome to the interview Aditya . We are so glad to have you. Thank you for joining us today. So to begin with, we would like you to give our audience a little introduction about who you are and where are you from?
Yeah, So my name is Aditya Jain and I am a high school junior from San Ramon California in the United States. And I am the CEO of Revoteen, which is a social networking platform connecting students to opportunities. And it's available on the App Store and Google Play Store.
Great, Okay, so to begin with, I would like to have some fun trivia questions just to sort of break the ice.
Yes, for sure.
Okay, so how would you describe yourself in three words?
I would describe myself as passionate, ambitious and determined.
Great, okay. If you were to write a book about yourself what would it be about ?
I would just highlight the journey because I think talking about my journey, talking about my experiences.
Great. You definitely have a nice journey.
Thank you
To begin with, So you are a chief executive officer of your Revoteen, right? How do you come up with this idea?
We came up with the idea for Revoteen back in May 2020, which was when the covid 19 pandemic had first started, right. So this was when everything was going virtual, schools going virtual, all these summer programs, internships and opportunities and organizations were going virtual, and I realized it was very hard for students connect with other students explore their passions, find opportunities, and like things like internships and summer programs, when everything was online. And we looked at platforms that already existed like Instagram, LinkedIn, all these platforms, but they aren't very student tailored. And they're very saturated with content that isn't necessarily applicable to a student. And this is where we came with the idea of a networking platform where 100% of the content you see is relevant to you. You can explore your passions, connect with students, find opportunities, and post about your opportunities and build up your own initiatives.
Great, brilliant idea.
Thank you.
Okay. The next question is, you are an executive director of DevTrex, right? Helping students accelerate into business world, also I wanna ask what is the main motive of this company?
The main motive is that there's many students who know what an entrepreneur is, who want to go into business, right. And they just think that is such a hard curve to get into business, or get into an entrepreneurship or start your own company or initiative, that they're just like, intimidated by that, right. And the goal with DevTrex is to teach students the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, allow them to transition into the business field, and ultimately become entrepreneurs and like use their game changing ideas to like, become changemakers. and to make an actual impact in society.
Well spoken. Okay, so the next question is , Is there a tactic? Or is there a pattern, formula to become a successful entrepreneur?
I think there's no singular formula. I think that's the crazy thing about entrepreneurship, in my opinion. There's no formula to success, right? There's so many different factors, so many different things, you have to be able to adjust on the fly. And I think if there was one factor that would like tie in to a formula, even though I don't think there is like a objective formula, it would be your ability to adapt to like situations, Because as an entrepreneur, whenever you're building something, whenever you're working on something, things are bound to come up right challenges are bound to come ,obstacles and your success largely depends on your ability to respond to that. So I think your adaptability is one big thing that affects your success.
Very well spoken. So how do you approach risk in your career? So like, every business has risk, right, There's no business without risk. So how do you approach it ?
I think taking calculated risks is the best way to approach it identifying what's there to gain What's there to lose from taking any major decision, I'm talking it over with our team. We have people from all sorts of different backgrounds, all sorts of interests and knowledges and using peoples Specialties and identifying like, who knows what the best and then talking about, I think that's the best way to approach risk. Take a stand as the team as a whole supports, I think that's the best way to approach any decision because almost every decision you're gonna make is gonna have some sort of risk tied to it. Right to being able to calculate that and use your best judgment to move forward is I think the way to approach that.
Wow. Okay, So who is your biggest inspiration?
I think my parents are my biggest inspiration because my parents moved from India to America. And they build up crews, they built up a family, obviously. And I think their success and like the amount of work that they put into their lives is something that inspires me. And that drives me to work as hard as I can to do whatever I can to become successful.
Okay, so you are a high school junior, right.?
Yeah .
You have a lot of success, and you are a very successful entrepreneur. So if you, at this young age have been this successful, have come to this level. What is the next big step? What's the next biggest goal in your life?
I think my goal is just to keep building a platform where I can impact as many people as possible, I think my goal as an entrepreneur revolves around impact. How many students can I impact. What type of impact am I making? Right. And I think, as Revoteen grows, as these initiatives I'm working on grows, as however many students we can affect, how many initiatives we can get started , what type of community we can build, I think my goal is just to maximize the size of that as I keep growing.
Just going with the flow.
Yeah .
That's a good one. So could you give us a hint about your upcoming projects?
Yeah, I mean, My main thing is Revoteen. And I think what we're doing with Revoteen is we're trying to introduce a bunch of features, a bunch of new aspects to it, that make the user experience even better, improved, like through takeaways that a student can make, right from the platform, increase like the benefits of using Revoteen. And that's what we're doing. So we introduced a new schools feature, where students can interact with students from this school, we're looking into other new features, and just pivoting on these methods to build up the best user experience we can.
Good ideas ,Okay, so I wanted to ask, you have a lot of successful companies, right? How do you come about your Venture? How did the idea generate?
I think the best way to come up with ideas is honestly taking notice to the things to your own issues, to issues that you come up with on a daily basis, talk to your friends, talk to people around you and identify what are issues that everyone's facing, identify the problem. And then you have to come up with a solution to the problem, right? Because if you come up with a solution to a problem that's non existent, it's not a solution, right? So if they identify a problem, and I think from there, what's the best way to tackle this problem is the key question and it takes a lot of brainstorming, a lot of pivoting. But eventually we'll come on to something that you want to pursue, and that's how it happened for me.
Very well spoken. Okay, so this is a very common question asked, and I wanted to ask, since you are a high school junior, and you are a successful entrepreneur, as well, how do you balance your Academic life and your business, because there must be some up and downs?
I would say Time management is the most important thing as a student, especially if you have a venture, I think, taking note of what days you're gonna be busy , What days you're not going to be as busy and understanding that you can't put in an equal amount of time every single day is one big thing to being able to balance the two because there's gonna be some days when you just overloaded with schoolwork or other work, and then you're just gonna have to end up working a lot more on your initiative on another day. And I think that's just one of the biggest things about approaches, right? being productive with your time and staying focused on the time that you do work on something and focusing on that one thing will allow you to separate your time better and split it between school, whatever you're working on and any other extracurriculars you've got going on.
Time management is definitely very essential for students like us. So I would like to ask you what is your goal after completing high school? What is the biggest goal? What are you going to achieve?
My goal after high school is obviously to pursue a higher education in a University where I want to study business or economics, eventually get an MBA, start up my own company and pursue Revoteen. So the goal is to become an entrepreneur as a career. So my goal is just to keep learning, improving and honing in on those skills that will help me become successful.
Okay, so I see you're very interested in economics and business. So are there any other fields you are interested in?
I'm also interested in tech, just given that Revoteen is a social media platform, right contacting the intersection of business and tech. I'm interested in tech and I'm learning about technology, just trying to get my hands on to these things. And I think that's the two fields where my passion lies, business and tech.
Wow. Okay. So the next question is, you have written about the breaking the hype of cryptocurrency, right? So could you please give a brief summary about it.
Yeah, this was an article I wrote for TEDx a little while back. And I noticed that cryptocurrencies obviously one big thing that's going all around, there's a lot of speculation, but a lot of people know about about it, but they don't know what it really does, right. And I think I'm analyzing how cryptocurrency works. Analyzing why it's effective. Analyzing why it's popular in the first place was one of the big things I wanted to do, especially to educate students, right, because it is a big part of business right now, a big part of tech and, obviously a big part of the future. It's a very futuristic currency. So that was essentially what my purpose behind it. And that's what the article is mainly about.
Okay, so you have done a lot of courses in AP biology and chemistry. So from your LinkedIn profile, I saw that, you are very interested in business and economics. So why did you do the course of chemistry, biology and math ?
So I took honors chemistry, AP Biology and these AP math courses. Because I think understanding your fundamental basis of a lot of these subjects like core sciences, core math, right, regardless of which field, you end up going into whether we business, tech, medicine, or any other field where I think it just improves your general knowledge. And I think understanding a lot of these fundamental concepts will help you build a strong basis and a strong knowledge of your surroundings, what's going on around you. And as you build the business, they can come up as useful. So I think that's why I took these courses, also to challenge myself. So that's why I pursued that.
Okay. Wonderful. So we are wrapping up the interview, what do you like to share any tips or, you know, any guidance, to young people out there who want to become entrepreneurs like you?
I'd say, the one piece of advice that I would give is that, Don't be afraid to follow through on something, right. If you if you believe in your idea, it doesn't matter what anyone else believes. And I think as a student, we're young, and you have so much time to pursue these things that you're going after. And there's no point, there's no reason why you shouldn't take that risk right now. Right? There's not much to lose. There's so much to gain. I think just go for it is my advice.
Very well said . Okay, it's just one last question. I just want to ask you about your experience as a TED talk speaker, because you have done a lot of TED talks, right? So I wanna ask how was your experience?
So my experience was phenomenal. I think that experience of being able to prepare a speech honing in on that speech , pivoting on that speech, and being able to deliver it is that sort of the TED Talk enables you to do, I think that's a wonderful experience. And I think it teaches you a lot about public speaking, communication, time management and productivity. I think because you have to plan out the speech, manage your time well over, spend a few months ,practice in front of other people and really be able to like express yourself well, in this TED talk. I think that was a really cool learning experience for me.
Wow, I would love to see your TED Talks because you seem really inspiring to people.
Thank you.
